Here’s one for the vegetarians. A 13 inch plait of water hyacinth. It has a lovely silky feel to the fibre on the top side but packs a punch as a strap. Beautifully evil in its simplicity. 

It can be soaked and used wet for extra sting but must be thoroughly dry before storing after use to avoid moulds growing.

The ends are clear dipped to reduce fraying.
